Concord School Board Candidates Answer Questions During Forum: Watch
District B candidates Cara Meeker and David Parker, Virginia Cannon and Sarah Robinson of District C, discuss grad credits, taxes, new RMS.

CONCORD, NH — Four candidates in two competitive board of education races in Concord met recently to tell voters why they would like to serve the SAU 8 Concord school district.
Two out of three of the board’s district seats are competitive this year: Cara Meeker and David Parker, the incumbent, are both running for a single District B seat, which covers Wards 5, 6, and 7, while Virginia Cannon, also an incumbent, and Sarah Robinson are competing for the District C seat, which represents Wards 8, 9, and 10.
Jim Richards, the current board president, who serves as the District A representative for Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4, is running unopposed and was not featured during the forum.

The 56-minute forum was organized by Concord NH Patch, ConcordTV, which recorded the forum, and WKXL 1450 AM, which featured audio from the event on its broadcast.
The candidates were asked about the ever-growing school budget, which is the highest it has ever been, at a time when property taxes in the city are at historic highs, too. They were also asked about the district’s recent middle-of-the-road school rankings, the new middle school project, and a new principal at the high school. Required graduation credits were also a topic of discussion, as were the 2021 Concord School District Charter Commission recommendations.
