Convicted Drug Dealer, NH Fugitive, Arrested In Mass.

Breaking: Jared Roberts, who was wanted on a probation violation after being convicted of dealing heroin, was arrested in Lowell today.

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Fugitive of the Week from last week was arrested in Massachusetts this afternoon after the U.S. Marshals Service received “high quality tips” that led to finding the convicted heroin dealer. Jared T. Roberts, 27, was arrested on Sept. 7, 2017, on a fugitive from justice charge and a warrant for probation violations. Roberts was featured on Aug. 30, and during the past eight days, marshals took tips they received and began a multi-day investigation trying to find him, according to Deputy Marshal Jeffrey White.

The effort involved every member of the task force as well as several local police departments in both the Granite State and the Bay State, he noted. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Concord NH Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

“Today, information was developed pointing to an area of Lowell, Mass., where Roberts was observed getting into a car,” White stated in a press release. “This car was followed for a short distance and was stopped by members of the Marshals Fugitive Task Force along with Lowell Police officers. Roberts was arrested at the scene without incident.”

After the arrest, Roberts was turned over to Lowell Police to be booked and he was held without bail. He’ll be in Lowell District Court tomorrow.

“If Roberts waives his extradition, he will be returned to Rockingham County where he will have his court hearings regarding the probation violations,” White said.

Rockingham County sheriffs have arrested Roberts three times since October 2016, according to reports on Patch. He was arrested a judge’s order to arrest for failure to appear at a motion to revoke hearing on an original charge of possession of heroin in June and a VOP charge in May. In October 2016, when he was living in Groveton, he was arrested a judge’s order to arrest for failure to appear at a plea on a possession of cocaine charge, on a judge’s order to arrest for failure to appear at a possession of heroin charge, and a bench warrant out of Lancaster District Court. He was also arrested by New Hampshire State Police on a warrant in September 2016.
