Da Paixao Murder Investigation Evidence Sealed In Concord Court
A public defender and interpreter have been arranged to assist Emerson Jaques Figueiredo, who faces two counts of murdering his wife.

CONCORD, NH — A husband accused of brutally murdering his wife on the Concord Heights Sunday waived arraignment and is due back in court in late September. Emerson Jaques Figueiredo, 42, faces two second-degree murder charges after he was arrested Sunday and charged with killing Nathalia Da Paixao, 35, his wife and mother of their two children. He chose not to appear in Merrimack County Superior Court Monday for arraignment on the charges but reserved the right to an evidentiary hearing at a future date.
According to court paperwork, a request was made to seal the Gerstein affidavit and investigatory materials for the case and a judge agreed to the request.
Figueiredo requested a public defender for himself and an interpreter has been arranged to assist him with his defense, since speaks Portuguese. In financial paperwork filed to be approved for a public defender, Figueiredo listed himself as a widower with limited sources of income. He also reported owning a cleaning company – BR Services of Snow Circle in Nashua – a restaurant, office, and housekeeping service. Figueiredo registered the business with the Secretary of State's Office in May 2014, and had renewed his business information last month. A source told Patch Monday that he was employed cleaning a number of restaurants in Downtown Concord.
