Felon With Lengthy Criminal History Wanted On Parole Violations
U.S. Marshals are searching for James Marshall Canney, who is accused of being involved in 2 separate narcotics cases. Have you seen him?

CONCORD, NH — The U.S. Marshals-New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is searching for a felon with a lengthy criminal history with two active probation-parole violations accusations.
James Marshall Canney is either 59 or 60, is around 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighs around 225 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair. Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal, stated in an alert that Canney has a tiger tattooed on his chest and barb wire on his left arm. He has scars on his shin and elbow, too.
In the past, according to the task force, Canney has used the aliases “James Marshall” and “James Canner.”

“Canney is being sought on an arrest warrant for both probation violations and parole violations stemming from two separate cases involving narcotics,” White said. “Canney has a criminal history that includes narcotics possession, distribution, assault, resisting arrest, burglary, and violations of court orders.”
Canney has “strong ties to both the Epping and Manchester,” where he has family, friends, and associates, he added.

Warrants for his arrest were issued by both the Rockingham County Sheriffs and New Hampshire Probation and Parole. A “known to abuse narcotics” warning has been placed on his alert, White said.
According to superior court records, Canney has felony charges dating back to 2010.
After an incident in Manchester in September 2010, Canney was convicted on acts prohibited; controlled drug act as well as driving violations in August 2011. In September 2012, he was charged with operating as a certified habitual offender as well as a license plate violation in Raymond. He pleaded guilty to the two felony habitual officer charges as well as a probation violation in May 2013. Canney pleaded guilty again to felony habitual offender in March 2015 after an incident in Hampton the year before. In June 2016, he was charged again with habitual offender and bail jumping as well as resisting arrest in Manchester. Canney pleaded guilty to the charges in January 2017. In 2018, he ran into more problems — drug possession in Merrimack in January 2018, and habitual offender and four controlled drug act charges, after two separate incidents in Manchester, in September 2018, with a mix of guilty pleas. He pleaded guilty to a probation violation in May 2019 for the habitual offender and bail jumping case. Canney was also charged with felony drug possession in December 2020 in Epping. He pleaded guilty to the charge in April 2021. Later, on Jan. 27, he was charged with violation of probation, leading to his fugitive status.
If you know where Canney is or see anyone who looks like him, do not try to apprehend him. Contact local police or the task force at 603-225-1632.
