CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire fugitive who was wanted on a parole violation and deadly weapon and other charges out of Merrimack was arrested in Concord on Thursday.

The joint fugitive task force had been searching for Dwan Dominic Anderson, a felon, since mid-July, on a parole violation after being convicted of witness tampering. Task force members cast a wide net attempting to find him since they believed he had ties to Merrimack, Nashua, and Belknap County. Anderson was also wanted on reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, disobeying an officer, and driving after suspension or revocation charges after an incident in Merrimack.

In July, his notice was posted with an “armed and dangerous” warning. Not long after that, “several tips pointed to areas of the Concord Heights and further east into Chichester,” Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal, said. On Thursday, task force members saw Anderson as a passenger in a vehicle at a local store on Loudon Road.

“The task force took this opportunity to move in and safely arrest Mr. Anderson without incident,” he said. “Behind Anderson’s seat in the vehicle, a BB gun resembling a Glock handgun was located.”

Anderson was taken straight to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord, where he was booked and will be held pending his hearing in front of the parole board, White said. Merrimack police will serve its arrest warrant to Anderson while he is in custody at the state prison, he added.

“I am proud of the task force and the hard work they do every day to help keep our communities a little bit safer,” U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said. “Thankfully, in this case, we are fortunate that Mr. Anderson did not pull out that realistic BB gun — as this arrest could have had a tragic outcome.”

White said task force members who worked the case included deputies, the probation and parole division of the department of corrections, the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, and police from Chichester, Concord, Greenfield, and Merrimack.

Back in March 2006, Anderson was accused of kidnapping and criminal threatening in Litchfield and Manchester. He pleaded guilty to the single Manchester kidnapping count in July 2007 and was sentenced to five years in prison. Anderson was permitted to participate in a work-release program in September 2012.

In August 2015, Anderson was arrested on felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and falsifying physical evidence charges after an incident in Concord in June of that year.

Two and half months later, he was accused of witness tampering on three separate occasions after the incident. Police accused him of threatening a local Backpage escort if she cooperated with police concerning accusations of him prostituting women at the Best Western on Hall Street. Anderson, who was living in Pembroke at the time, pleaded guilty to the weapon possession, falsification, and two of the tampering charges in March 2016.

Anderson was arrested again on felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and four controlled drug counts out of Concord in December 2017, connected to an incident a month before. He was accused of stealing a detective’s drug case during an undercover heroin buy. Anderson pleaded guilty to two of the drug charges and the weapon charge in March 2018 and had his previous sentence from the 2015 cases also amended, according to superior court documents.

Anderson, according to posts on Patch, was previously arrested for driving after revocation or suspension, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, and warrants.
