Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department said the incident was never reported to the police, so the department has no details. An NHTI student reported the incident to security at the school.

NHTI, Concord’s community college, warned its staff and students that, while there was limited information about the incident, they should be aware of the incident.

Thomas said officers and investigators “have no idea what we are looking for” beyond what was reported to NHTI security.

“I don’t know the time (of the incident), how many people were there,” Thomas said, “if a weapon was shown … before we begin an investigation, we would like to have some information … we need a complaint.”

In the NHTI alert, Jason Wovkanech, a campus safety officer at NHTI, suggested when students and staff go out, they should be in a group and have a cell phone.

Anyone connected to the school who sees anything suspicious should call 603-224-3287. Anyone with information about the incident or suspect should call Concord police at 603-225-8600.
