McClure Out in Ward 3

Long-time Concord city councilor chooses not to run again; Jennifer Kretovic signed up to run for the seat yesterday.

Not unlike Apollo Creed said to Rocky Balboa at the end of the classic film, “Rocky,” after barely winning a 15 round Super Fight against the southpaw, there ain’t gonna be no rematch in Ward 3 this year.

That’s because long-time Ward 3 Concord City Councilor Jan McClure has confirmed to Patch that she will not be a candidate for re-election, according to an email.

McClure, a land protection specialist at The Nature Conservancy, has been on the council since 2003, and was considering not running two years ago but filed on the last day. She stuck it out for one more term but has decided not to run again this year.

It’s unknown at post time if there will be other candidates in Ward 3. The filing period is open until Sept. 14. Click here to find out how to run for city and school offices.
