Meet The Candidates Who Want To Be Rundlett’s Next Principal

The Concord School District will host a meet-and-greet with two candidates on Tuesday and Wednesday who hope to replace Jim McCollum.

CONCORD, NH — Concord parents and guardians have a chance to meet two of the finalists for the Rundlett Middle School principal’s job, according to school officials. At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, Dr. Alison Bryant, who is currently the principal for the Laconia Middle School, will be available to meet with parents as she meets with staff and students. On Wednesday, March 28, also at 8 a.m., Paulette Fitzgerald, the principal of the Claremont Middle School, will also be available.

Both meetings will take place in the library media center at RMS.

Current Principal Jim McCollum, who was hired as an interim principal and then, decided to stay on, announced his retirement last month from public education, at the conclusion of the current school year.

“My reasons for this decision include a family component that also must be attended to at this time,” he noted in a letter to parents. “My time at RMS has been short but I want you all to know that I have enjoyed much of what we have done together to make Blue Duke Nation a better place for teaching and learning. I wish only the best to everyone in this school community and in the Concord School District; it has truly been an honor to work in this district.”

McCollum came to the district in July 2016 as an interim principal to take over for Tom Sica, who moved to Concord High School after Gene Connolly retired. Previously, he led Laconia High School and was also a middle school principal. He also worked as the principal of the Newfound Memorial Middle School and was a program director at Mt. Washington Academy for more than six years. McCollum was also an athletic director and dean of students at an alternative education program in West Palm Beach, FL.
