CONCORD, NH — A nurse at the New Hampshire State Hospital was arrested and held on preventative detention Sunday, accused of possessing child pornography.

Peter James Lariviere, 29, of Broad Avenue in Concord, was arrested on three felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse images.

According to police, back in July, the computer crimes unit was requested to assist Homeland Security Investigations into a child sexual abuse material case after “an international operation” conducted by Europol and led by the State Criminal Police of Bavaria, Lt. Thomas Yerks, of the Concord Police Department’s Bureau of Investigations, said.

In mid-August, police, HIS, and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Lariviere’s home, seizing multiple devices, he said.

“Forensic examinations of the devices were subsequently conducted, resulting in the recovery of child sexual abuse material and other evidence of Kidflix usage,” Yerkes said.

Police issued an arrest warrant, and Lariviere was taken into custody at his home on Sunday. He was processed and held at the Merrimack County Jail on preventative detention. Lariviere was arraigned in Concord District Court on Monday.

According to the online state employee database, Lariviere is employed as a nurse at the New Hampshire Hospital in Concord. The public information officer account for the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services did not return an email request confirming Lariviere’s employment status before publication time.

Lariviere, according to posts on Patch, was arrested by New Hampshire State Police in January on aggravated driving under the influence-30-plus mph, DUI, and reckless operation charges after an incident in Concord. He was also charged with driving under the influence in Nashua in August 2019. In Londonderry, in August 2016, he was charged with transporting alcoholic beverages after a motor vehicle stop on Nashua Road.

Yerkes said the case was an open and active investigation. Anyone with information was asked to contact police or the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100.
