Rhode Island Teen Arrested for Reckless Driving, Drugs

NH State Police say Ryan Quinn was clocked going 127 on I-93.

Using aircraft and troopers on the ground, the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was able to get another allegedly reckless driver off of a Granite State highway today.

Ryan Quinn, 19, of Newport, RI, was arrested on Nov. 29, and charged with reckless driving and possession of a controlled drug.

According to state police, at around 9:30 a.m. this morning, the unit was conducting traffic enforcement with aircraft on I-93 northbound in Northfield when they “observed a vehicle traveling north bound at an extremely high rate of speed.” The trooper piloting the plane notified troopers on the ground and clocked the vehicle twice in excess of 100 mph.

“The highest speed was 127 mph,” according to Lt. Shapiro of Troop D in Concord.

A trooper on the ground was able to intercept and stop the vehicle. Quinn was later arrested. He’s due in court on Jan. 13, 2015.

The New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit has been out in force in recent months and has bagged a number of alleged reckless drivers traveling in excess of 100 mph in cars and motorcycles.
