Deeper dive into city OD data; study says NH residents are educated; stolen car recovered; should we not trust the budget revenue hype?

CONCORD, NH — As we all know, many Granite Staters are highly educated, in all kinds of fields and backgrounds.
And now, we have data to prove it.
WalletHub.com, the personal finance website, released its latest most and least educated states and placed New Hampshire in 8th place.

The study used 18 different data metrics to come up with its findings including high school diploma holders, which placed the state in 4th, and average university quality, which said New Hampshire was 5th. The state was also first in racial gap in educational attainment — meaning, it was best, and had the lowest gap when compared to other states. It also ranked first in gender gap in educational attainment, too. The state also was in the Top 10 for Bachelor’s degree holders (8th), associate degree or college-experienced adults, and graduate- or professional-degree holders (both at 9th).

Inspiration From The Real McCoy
The New Hampshire Department of Education and the Woodson Center have released their third video highlighting Stories of Courage, celebrating Black History Month.
The latest video features Elijah McCoy, an inventor who held dozens of patents and overcame racial inequalities in the early 1900s to start his own manufacturing company.
“Many have heard the phrase, ‘the real McCoy,’ but they do not know the man that inspired it,” Ian Rowe, a senior visiting fellow at the Woodson Center, and narrator of the videos, said. “In this video, which is based on our lesson about the great inventor Elijah McCoy, students can learn about his achievements amidst true structural barriers.”

Internet Company Delivers Speed Boost
Breezeline, the country’s eighth-largest cable operator, has upgraded residential Internet service to more than 125,000 customers in New Hampshire.
Depending on customer Internet packages, download speeds have doubled — from 50 Mbps to 100 and 100 Mbps to 200. Customers who are paying for 400 Mbps will see speeds increase to 500. The company also offers a 1Gbps package.
“Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or any day of the year, we know our customers love to connect online with everything that’s important to them, so we’re excited to offer even faster speeds at the same price starting today,” Heather McCallion, Breezeline’s Vice President, Products and Programming, said. “We continue to invest in technology to make these speed upgrades possible for our customers.”
The company will soon be offering service in Concord. A spokesperson, however, did not respond to an email of exactly when service would be available.
The company has more than 160,000 customers in New Hampshire.
