CONCORD, NH — The public's assistance led to the capture of a New Hampshire Fugitive of the Week from April, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Brandon Lee Lanum, 37, a convicted bank robber, was featured on April 21 and accused of supervised release violations. He was last known to be living in Manchester. However, tips led investigators to Durham — specifically, a home on Wiswall Road, according to Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal.

"Based on this information and some follow-up investigation, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, along with members of the Durham Police Department went to this residence to locate Lanum," White said. "People were heard inside the residence, but they did not come to the door, so entry was forced."

Once inside, Lanum was found "inside the attic crawl space and was arrested," without incident, White said.

Marshals also arrested Elizabeth Mudgett, 37, who was at the home on an outstanding arrest warrant for theft issued by the Stratham Police Department.

Lanum was taken to the Strafford County Jail in Dover for processing and holding. Mudgett was processed by Durham police and released on personal recognizance.

White said along with marshals, members of the Belknap, Rockingham, and Strafford county sheriff's offices, Durham and Greenfield police, and Federal Protective Services worked on the case.

Lanum has a lengthy criminal history including burglary convictions in April 2002 and theft arrests in Stratham in 2001. According to Seacoastonline.com, he was arrested after a home invasion and shooting in Alstead and was later convicted of second-degree assault and burglary in July 2007 — after also being charged with first-degree assault. He was living in North Reading, Massachusetts, at the time. Lanum was also arrested on conspiracy-false report of explosives and criminal liability-burglary charges out of Concord but only convicted on the liability charge in August 2012, according to superior court records.

Mudgett has more than a dozen cases she has been involved in, dating back to 2002, most out of Rockingham County. The charges include burglary, receiving stolen property, several criminal liability incidents in Seacoast communities, and bail jumping.
