'Untimely' Death Reported At Concord Men's Prison

Corrections officers were made aware that a man was unresponsive in a housing unit shortly after midnight Monday.

CONCORD, NH — Officials are investigating the "untimely" death of a resident at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord, according to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.

Corrections officers were made aware that a man was unresponsive in a housing unit shortly after midnight Monday, officials said.

Officers called an ambulance and began CPR, but lifesaving measures were stopped after a do not resuscitate order was confirmed in the resident's record, according to officials.

"The death is not considered suspicious; however, all aspects of the death remain under investigation," the Department of Corrections said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. No additional information is expected to be released until the resident’s next of kin are notified and the autopsy is completed, according to officials.
