West End Rollover Crash Causes Power Outage In Concord

Concord police said the driver crashed on Little Pond Road and fled the scene on foot but was caught on Auburn Street.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police and fire and rescue teams responded to a single-vehicle crash that knocked out power to about 160 Unitil customers in the West End. The crash occurred at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The driver of a gray sedan lost control at the curve just east of Star Granite, swerved, and struck a utility pole, according to reports.

The driver continued on Little Pond Road erratically and rolled the vehicle just east of Pond Place Lane. The road was closed and traffic was rerouted.

Officers told residents that the driver fled the scene. The driver was found later on Auburn Street.

Unitil is estimating that power will be restored sometime before midnight.

This is the eighth accident in the last seven years on this stretch of road. Last year, a driver crashed a vehicle in nearly the same spot and he and two passengers fled the scene. Two years before that, a teenager rolled his parent's vehicle a few feet from Pond Place Lane. He was charged with reckless operation. Twice in 2013, two Concord residents were arrested on drunken driving charges after crashing their vehicles in nearly the same spot, about 100 feet from Pond Place Lane.
