Mirsky: Debating Trump's IRS Tax Returns

The debate will be amusing, but we still need to know what Trump is hiding.

We are all waiting for this so-called Presidential "debate” that is to take place on Monday night and we have already been told the Republican candidate Donald Trump intends to turn it into a circus, by inviting inappropriate people to sit in the front row for the purpose of seeking to intimidate Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton into possibly making some sort of error.

These presidential debates have sometimes made a big difference in U.S. Presidential elections, and sometimes such debates have gained a lot of attention but made no difference whatsoever. Which will it be this time? Tune in and find out. If you care.

We already know Donald Trump is a TV personality and capable of making a big splash on TV. We already know Hillary Clinton, former U.S. Senator, First Lady, and U.S. Secretary of State, is a very serious person, not involved in public life to be an entertainer. So what difference does this debate really make?

Well, it should make one big difference. Because Donald Trump, who has been selling himself as a business expert, as a billionaire, as someone who supposedly knows something about our economy, somebody who supposedly cares about America, has not yet provided the U.S. voters with a look at his recent IRS tax returns, which would provide the American people with valuable insight into who Donald Trump really is.

Maybe at Monday night’s debate a reporter will finally demand that Donald Trump provide the American people with the valuable information that is contained in Donald Trump’s IRS tax returns, which should show us how much money Trump has really made, whether Trump has been honest about that, and how much tax Donald Trump has paid. Trump's tax returns will also show whether he has given any money at all to any kind of charity.

Because we need to know these things. We need to know more about Donald Trump.

The American people have a right to know.
