Senator Gillibrand of New York: Trump did not "drain the swamp" - he filled it with his own brand of corruption.

Yesterday, Sunday, July 7, 2019, was an amazingly inspirational day. The US Women’s National Soccer Team won the World Cup Final in Lyon, France. Team USA was led by Megan Rapinoe, playing left wing, who scored first on a powerfully executed penalty kick, and by midfielder Rose Levelle, who sealed the win with a masterfully confident left-footed kick to the corner of the goal, beyond the Netherlands’ goalie’s reach.

It was a great day for the women of the world. Women’s international soccer is a sport in which it appears that the women have surpassed the men, in skill, grace, excitement, and team-oriented play.

Yesterday was also a great day in New Hampshire, as US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, a Democratic Candidate for President in 2020, appeared in Portsmouth, at the 3S Artspace theater on Vaughan Street, for a Democracy Town Hall Conversation on the ways that we can save our democracy from the Big Money and Big Business interests that have come to dominate every important aspect of government policy that affects our lives as Americans. As Kirsten Gillibrand explains, President Trump did not “drain the swamp” as he promised, instead, Donald Trump filled the swamp of Washington insider politics with his own brand of self-enriching corruption. These are dangerous days for our democracy.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand demonstrated to me yesterday that she is a very very sharp individual, with a powerful mind, great inner strength, and a sincere belief that we as Americans can overcome the negative forces of Big Money, Racism, Bigotry, and Intolerance. When listening to Kirsten Gillibrand you begin to see and appreciate that Senator Gillibrand has a clear vision for a more humane, sensible and unified American, an America where all innate individual differences are respected, and where everyone can enjoy the benefits of America in good health.

Kirsten Gillibrand is a three-term US Senator from one of our largest states, New York. From my perspective, I can see that she believes in the promise of America as a land of freedom, tolerance and prosperity for all, and, no matter how downhearted recent political events have made you feel, Senator Gillibrand has the ability and commitment to positive change to make you believe in America too. Gillibrand first served in the US Congress by getting elected as a Democrat in a traditionally Republican district; she has the capacity to transcend the chaos and disorder we currently face, because she is strong and unafraid.

Kirsten Gillibrand’s campaign motto: Brave Wins.

Senator Gillibrand went to college here in New Hampshire, at Dartmouth. She is a working mother, an attorney, and a brilliant leader with a mastery of the issues that matter in our lives, including health care, as to which she is a proponent of providing quality affordable health care as a right, for every one of us.

I would also note that Senator Gillibrand is strong speaker, and a fearless protector of individual rights and the dignity of each and every human being.
