Nashua Police Charge NH Man In Hunt Street Standoff
Nashua Police said William Case engaged officers in an eight-hour standoff while in possession of what appeared to be a shotgun or rifle.

NASHUA, NH — The New Hampshire man who Nashua Police said was involved in an overnight standoff with police on Hunt Street last month as been charged with felony criminal threatening with a deadly weapon. William Case, 59, engaged Nashua Police in an eight-hour, armed standoff lasting from about 9:30 p.m. until two officers struck him with rounds of ammunition and he was detained about 4 a.m.
Case was transported to a Boston hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police said he remained hospitalized for injuries not related to the incident until his recent release. Members of the Nashua Police Department's Uniform Field Operations Bureau arrested him Tuesday night and charged him with the Class B felony.
Nashua Police responded to Hunt Street on Sept. 19 for a report of a man threatening another man known to him. Police identified Case as the man who the victim said threatened him with either a rifle or shotgun. Police said Case refused to comply with officers' commands and the standoff ensued. During the standoff, he was observed with the gun, which was later determined to be a BB air rifle.

The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office said Nashua Police Officer Joe Colangelo hit Case in the upper torso with a bullet, while Nashua Police Officer Mathew Foss hit Case with a beanbag round.
Potential additional charges are pending against Case stemming from this incident.

Per standard procedure, the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, with the assistance of the State Police Major Crimes Unit, are investigating the circumstances involving the officers' use of force during this incident.
Case was scheduled for arraignment at Hillsborough County Superior Court-South. Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to contact the Nashua Police Department at 603-589-1655.
