Watch: Donald Trump Rallies Supporters in Atkinson NH

The presidential race is a toss-up – but with his poll numbers up, the GOP nominee knows all paths to victory lead through New Hampshire.

ATKINSON, NH — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is again visiting New Hampshire rallying voters to his campaign in the last hours of the 2016 general election. Trump makes an unprecedented fourth trip the state in the last six weeks buoyed by an avalanche of bad press against the Democratic presidential nominee, her campaign staffers, and others, hosting an event at the Atkinson Country Club in Atkinson, which is scheduled to begin at noon.

National tracking polls – which don’t elect the president but give the politerati a feel for the state of the race – now show a tightening contest between Trump and Clinton, with Libertarian Gary Johnson losing more than half of his previous support in during the course of the last month, according to the RealClearPolitics.com average. That average, however, doesn’t include other national tracking polls, including the Los Angeles Times state of the race poll, which has been sampling 3,000 voters for months and shows a surging Trump, clinging to a 4-point lead nationally.

The presidency, however, is not elected by popular vote but instead, the Electoral College, with votes awarded to each state; voting on Tuesday is a battle to win enough states to pass 270 EC votes and, by all accounts, the race is a toss-up.

According to the New York Times Who Will Be President interactive graphic, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has 693 different state EC combinations to win the presidency while Trump has 315 ways to win. And in many of Trump’s winning scenarios, he needs New Hampshire’s four Electoral College votes – which is why he is campaigning here today and returning for an election eve rally in Manchester on Nov. 7.

As Trump arrives in the state today, there is also an abundance of good news in the latest polls from New Hampshire during the past week: Four polls show Trump either tied or leading by as much as 5 percent. Clinton’s lead – as high as 15 percent in late July and mid-October, when UNH/WMUR-TV poll released a poll which was criticized for its oversampling of Democrats – has essentially collapsed, according to the data.

Clinton and the Democrats, however, are not giving up on the state – the campaign this morning released a list of 12 surrogate events for today alone, including visits and meet-and-greets with Chelsea Clinton, actress Kristin Davis, U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros.

Clinton will also host a campaign event in Manchester on Sunday and President Barack Obama will be at UNH in Durham on Monday.
