1 Killed In Monmouth County Double-Shooting Near Barber Shop: PD

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP – One man died and another was injured after shots were fired in the area of a Jersey Shore barber shop on Friday, prosecutors said.

Wayne E. Jones, 46, of Neptune Township was pronounced dead at 9:02 p.m., according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. A 42-year-old Trenton man was treated and released from Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The fatal double-shooting happened in Neptune Township around 8:11 p.m. when police responded to 1030 Old Corlies Ave. in the area of the R-NU Barbershop, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

This is the second homicide at that location in the past year. Three more incidents happened earlier this month in what has become a trend of gun violence in the Asbury Park and Neptune area.

In this incident, police received a report that two men arrived at Jersey Shore University Medical Center with gunshot wounds. The two men arrived at JSUMC in separate vehicles, the MCPO said.
