Double Shooting In Asbury Park: Prosecutor (UPDATE)
UPDATE: More gun violence has been reported in the Jersey Shore community – two shootings in 24 hours.

ASBURY PARK – A double shooting was reported at the Jersey Shore on Monday. The incident followed another "shots-fired" incident just hours before.
Once again, the location was Asbury Park.
Two people were shot around 1 a.m. on Monday, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. The incident was one of a series of heartbreaking incidents in Asbury Park over the past few months.

The incident happened a couple days before five people were arrested following a three-month manhunt in the Asbury Park shooting death of a beloved up-and-coming chef, a man who garnered his love for cooking while attending the Rugby School. The Monday shooting happened on the 600 block of Prospect Avenue, the MCPO said. Both victims reportedly did not have life-threatening injuries.

The other shooting incident happened Sunday at approximately 6:30 p.m. There were no victims and no injuries on the 200 block of Atkins Avenue in Asbury Park, according to the MCPO.

The two incidents come weeks after two men were shot while sitting inside a vehicle in Asbury Park. Another vehicle pulled up alongside them and two other men began firing, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. The Asbury Park mayor and City Council recently responded to recent shootings in the city:
"While we cannot provide details of the events, we can assure you that the Asbury Park Police Department and Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office are working diligently on these cases.
"We also want to remind our citizens that Asbury Park declared itself a Stigma Free Community last year – with the goal of erasing the stigma associated with mental illness so that residents can get the resources they need without judgment. Individuals with mental health issues are encouraged to seek assistance through the City's Social Services Department (732-502-4528), or through any other available avenue. We also encourage family and friends to get the help they need through these same channels so they can better assist loved ones in a time of crisis.
"Lastly, we cannot stress enough – if you have any knowledge of a crime, we implore you to immediately contact the Asbury Park Police Department or the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
"The public is our first and best line of defense of against violence within our community.
