Tragic New Year's Weekend: 15 Killed In New Jersey
Fifteen people died in several violent incidents that took place on New Year's Eve weekend, including a teen's murder of 4 family members.

New Jersey just had one of its most heartbreaking weekends in a long time. Fifteen people were killed in several incidents that took place over the New Year's weekend.
An incident that received national attention involved a 16-year-old boy who used a semi-automatic rifle to kill his parents, sister and a family friend late on New Year's Eve. Read more here: Long Branch Community In Shock After Quadruple Murder
The teenager was taken into custody without incident shortly after police arrived at the family home at 635 Wall Street in the city, he said. "It was very quick," Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said of the boy's apprehension. "It was uneventful."

The incident, however, was among nine possible murders in New Jersey this weekend, as well as a few other tragic events:
- Two women were killed in stabbings in South Jersey over the weekend. A Burlington County man has been charged with murder in the deaths of two Collingswood women, and with the attempted murder of a third woman Dec. 30, authorities announced. Read more here.... and here...

- A man was shot in the head and killed in Jersey City on New Year's Day. Read more here...
- One man died in a South Jersey shooting after he was found in a car in Camden after he had apparently been shot on New Year's Eve, authorities announced. Read more here...
- A woman was shot and killed on her way to church New Year's Eve after persuading a friend not to get drunk, according to reports. Read more here...
- A Plainfield man was arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing his roommate following an argument shortly before midnight New Year's Eve, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office. Read more here...
- Authorities are seeking the public's help in obtaining more information surrounding the New Year's Eve stabbing death of an Asbury Park man. The 27-year-old died after he was stabbed at a Sewall Avenue apartment, according to Gramiccioni. Read more here...
- The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has identified a man killed as a result of a shooting in Newark on New Year's Eve. Police found Mr. Arthur Ruff, 53, suffering a gunshot wound in the vicinity of 2nd Street and Central Avenue at around 12:15 a.m. Read more here...
- A Manchester Township pedestrian died when he was hit by a vehicle as he crossed Water Street, police said Saturday. Read more here...
Also, two people were shot at a house party on New Year's Day in Gloucester Township, authorities announced. An 18-year-old Sicklerville woman and a 28-year-old Pine Hill man were shot at a party on Sherri Lane at about 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
