UPDATE: Missing Elderly Man Found Safe In Barnegat: Police

Nearly a day after he was last seen, 82-year-old Leslie Shaffer has been found safe, Barnegat police said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — The 82-year-old man who went missing on Tuesday in Barnegat has been found safe, Barnegat police said Wednesday afternoon.

Shaffer had last been seen around 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 18, police said. New Jersey State Police joined the search on Wednesday, along with local organizations and residents.

As of 3 p.m. on Oct. 19, Shaffer has been located, police said. The Ocean County Sheriff's Office thanked the public and the other departments involved for their help with searching.
