Brick July 4th Fireworks, SummerFest: 2018 Guide

SummerFest kicks off Thursday night with the first concert and fireworks of the summer.

BRICK, NJ — Most towns have had their Fourth of July fireworks but in Brick, the Independence Day celebration continues for another day.

The township's SummerFest series is scheduled to kick off tonight, Thursday, July 5, at Windward Beach Park with a performance by Jessie's Girl (the hits of the '80s, so break out your Madonna-inspired fashions) that is followed by a fireworks display.

Windward Beach Park opens for SummerFest starting at 5 p.m. with food vendors and a beer and wine garden that's accessible to those 21 or older. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Brick Township police are reminding concertgoers to take the shuttle buses from Drum Point Elementary School, Brick Township High School and Midstreams Elementary School because parking is limited at Windward Beach.

Shuttle buses start running at 5 p.m. and after the show continue to run until everyone has been returned to their cars.

The fireworks are scheduled weather permitting, and there is a slight chance of a thunderstorm Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office. The forecast puts the possibility at 20 percent, and radar shows storms in western Pennsylvania as of 3 p.m. but not much close to the Jersey Shore.

The fireworks presentation is sponsored by Pine Belt, and is put on by Fireworks Extravaganza. That is the same company that left Beachwood and Milltown without fireworks on Wednesday. Brick Township Business Administrator Joanne Bergin said township officials had been in contact with the fireworks company and were assured that the display for Thursday evening was en route to Brick. Bergin said they used Fireworks Extravaganza last year for the SummerFest displays and had no issues with the company. SummerFest was disrupted repeatedly last year by thunderstorms, however.

Other sponsors of SummerFest are TD Bank, Comcast, Bil-Jim Construction Company, Ferreira, JCP&L, Nanina's in the Park, CME Associates, Saker ShopRites and MRC. Townsquare Media's 94.3 The Point, WOBM 92.7 FM, Beach Radio 1160 and 1310 AM and 105.7 The Hawk are its media partners.
