Man Indicted In Murder Of South Jersey Man Found In Car: Cops

Douglas Lewis has been indicted in connection with the murder of Shaquille Williams in Pemberton earlier this year.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ - A Burlington County man has been indicted in connection with the murder of a man who was found fatally shot in a car earlier this year, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced.

Douglas Lewis, 23, of Pemberton, has been indicted on charges of murder in the first degree, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Lewis has been incarcerated in the Burlington County Jail since he was arrested in the death of 24-year-old Shaquille Williams, of Pemberton, in the fall.

Williams was found inside a car suffering from several gunshot wounds on the 100 block of Kinsley Road just before 9 p.m. on March 21. Williams, who lived in the Browns Mills section of Pemberton Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case was investigated by detectives from the Pemberton Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit — Violent Crimes Section, and Crime Scene Unit. The lead investigators are BCPO MCU Detective Tony Luyber and Pemberton Township Police Detective Danielle Hann.

The case was presented to the Grand Jury by Assistant Prosecutor Bob VanGilst, supervisor of the BCPO Major Crimes Unit – Violent Crimes Section.
