Fatal Union County Shooting Remains Unsolved 2 Years Later
The Union County Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
PLAINFIELD, NJ — Authorities are re-releasing a video of a man connected with the fatal shooting of a Plainfield man in hopes of solving a 2-year-old case.
Saturday, Dec. 29 will mark the two-year anniversary since the homicide of 32-year-old Shamar Coleman and police are asking the public for information and help in identifying the alleged shooter, acting Union County Prosecutor Michael A. Monahan announced.
Coleman was shot multiple times at Seafood Rama on the 1000 block of East Second Street in Plainfield at 5:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His death marked the 12th homicide in the city for 2016.

In the video, a person can be seen getting out and inside the passenger’s side of what appears to be a small Volkswagen sedan parked outside the restaurant around the time of the shooting, authorities report.
Police point out the distinctive clothing being worn by the person that night: bright blue pants, white sneakers, a dark facial covering, and a hooded sweatshirt that appears to be black on the bottom and light gray on the top.

The killing remains under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
