Missing Union County Poodle's Body Found

Chanel, named just like the perfume, was a white pure-bred standard poodle. Her family had been searching for her since March.

CLARK, NJ — The body of Chanel, the beloved poodle of a Plainfield couple, has been found, according to a post in the Finding Chanel Facebook group.

"It is with a most heavy heart and salty cheeks that we have to let you know that Chanel's body was found this afternoon. The love that Chanel gave her family and the caring community spirit she inspired in us all will continue to live on. Hug your babies tight. R.I.P. little one. Fly free...you are now with the angels," the post stated on Monday.

Chanel, named just like the perfume, was a white pure-bred standard poodle who was last seen at the McCabe's home on Belvidere Avenue running up Watchung Avenue on March 22 when she ran out the front door.

Sightings of Chanel had been reported in Scotch Plains, Clark, Garwood, Westfield and Plainfield. Many locals banned together to help find Chanel and even created the Facebook group. Until she was ultimately found on Monday afternoon in Oak Ridge Park in Clark, according to tapinto.net.

"We have been married 44 years and don't have children, our pets have always been our kids," Barbara McCabe said.

Many locals took to the Facebook group to voice their condolences.

"Our prayers and condolences go out to the family of Chanel. A sad day here but Rainbow Bridge has gained another bright star," said one local.

"I'm so sad to hear this heartbreaking news. Thank you, Chanel, for bringing an entire community together. Rest in peace sweet angel. My condolences to Chanel's loved ones," said another local.

"I cannot even begin to express my sadness for the McCabe's with the loss of their beloved Chanel. The only solace in this journey was the banding together of so many caring folks and their common goal of reuniting Chanel and her family. Sadly, that did not occur with the death of Chanel. Having formed friendships that will bond us, we will remember Chanel lovingly. RIP and be our Guardian Angel for all the lost pups," said another.
