Westfield Area Y Preschool And Full-Day Kindergarten Receive NAEYC Reaccreditation

WESTFIELD AREA Y PRESCHOOL AND FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN RECEIVE NAEYC REACCREDITATION

The Westfield Area Y is pleased to announce their child care education programs at all Westfield locations have been reaccredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

To be NAEYC-accredited, a childcare program must go through a process of self-study involving children, parents and teachers. A variety of criteria related to providing a developmentally appropriate program must be met, including well-qualified and trained staff and strict health and safety standards. Also, the program must provide a wealth of opportunities for parent involvement.

Westfield Area Y Early Learning programs incorporate “The Creative Curriculum for Early Childhood” into their daily lesson plans. The most important goal is to help the children become enthusiastic learners and encourage them to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. Creative Curriculum content areas include: Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Arts, Technology, Healthy Habits and Character Development.

The Y’s Full-Day Kindergarten program follows the public school calendar and expands upon the incorporated public school curriculum with interactive math, literacy, science and social studies experiences. Specials may include gym, music, art, Spanish and/or a 30-minute swim lesson (varies by location). Our early learning and child care programs are open to residents of all neighboring towns.

The Westfield Area Y child care education programs are committed to strengthen families and boost youth development. Registration is going on now. There are some spots still available for the 2016-2017 school year. Please contact Eileen Rooney at (908) 654-8460 x134; erooney@westfieldynj.org to arrange a tour, answer any questions or for more information about the Westfield Area Y Preschool or Kindergarten programs.
