9/11 Memorial Observance, Food Drive Announced In East Brunswick
This year's observance Ceremony will be held on Monday, Sept. 11, at the Township's 9/11 Memorial at the Municipal Complex.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – This year, East Brunswick has planned three programs to honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen will lead this year’s 9/11 Observance Ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11.
The ceremony will be held at the Township’s 9/11 Memorial at the Municipal Complex, rain or shine.

The Township will also hold a “9/11 Day of Service Food Drive” on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m.. Donations will be given to the Aldersgate Outreach Community Center in East Brunswick.
The final one is the “9/11 Essay Writing Contest.” Any East Brunswick High School student, grades 9 to 12 can participate in the contest. The essay should use either of the following prompts:

- Interview a parent, grandparent or other adult who remembers the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001. What were they doing when they found out about the attack? How did they react and what are their feelings about 9/11 today?
- The tragic events that took place on 9/11 remind us all to be grateful and appreciative of our lives. What 3 aspects of your life are you grateful for? Why? Be specific and include details.
Essays should be submitted by email to mayor@eastbrunswick.org by Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 9:00 a.m. The winning essay will be read during the 9/11 Observance.
