South River Police Find Over 5 Pounds Of Marijuana Near Veterans Park
The marijuana was in a black garbage bag in a wooded area off Veterans Drive. Two local men were arrested.

SOUTH RIVER, NJ — On Saturday, October 14, South River police were dispatched to a wooded area off Veterans Drive for a report of a suspicious incident. Upon their arrival, patrol units canvassed the area and found a black garbage bag containing a large amount of marijuana.
Police investigated and ended up charging Jake Esposito, 19, of South River and Simran Ranota, 20, of Parlin with possession of approximately five pounds of marijuana. Both were charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute over five pounds and possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park (Veteran's Drive Athletic Field).
After processing, Esposito and Ranota were released with a pending court date at Middlesex County Superior Court. The investigation is ongoing.
