Spotswood EMT Killed In Ambulance Crash

Hinal Patel, an EMT for the Spotswood EMS, was killed in the line of duty Saturday in East Brunswick.

An EMT for Spotswood EMS was the victim of a fatal ambulance crash Saturday morning in East Brunswick.

Hinal Patel was killed in the line of duty, officials with the North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company said in a statement.

The multi-car wreck happened at the intersection of Ryders Lane and Cranbury Road, nj.com reported.

“Hinal has been a member of our North Stelton family since April 2012. She completed her EMT training in September of 2012. She served the citizens of Piscataway as a volunteer EMT in our Emergency Medical Services division. She served as a volunteer at St. Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick for 5 years before becoming an EMT at North Stelton,” the statement from North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company said.

Hinal, a Piscataway resident and a graduate of Piscataway High School, graduated from Rutgers University in May with a Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience.

She aspired to become a physician or a physician’s assistant and was planning to attend master’s program at the Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences this fall, according to officials with the North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company.

“Hinal was a very smart, dedicated member of our family and she will be greatly missed. She had many close friends at North Stelton. The members of the North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company are devastated by her loss and extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends and coworkers,” North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company said.
