Woman Trips Over Bread Display, Sues ShopRite

Helen Fromen, 66, claims she suffered 'great pain' and severe and permanent bodily injuries,' after the ordeal at the Englewood store.

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — A woman has filed a lawsuit against ShopRite of Englewood after allegedly suffering great pain following her tripping over a bread display in the store in 2015.

Helen Fromen, 66, of Rockland County, said in the suit she was in the store on Nov. 17, 2015 when she fell over the display, which allegedly had been left in the middle of the bread aisle, according to a report on NJ.com.

Joseph M. Simantov, Fromen's attorney, could not be reached for comment. Patch could not obtain a copy of the lawsuit.

The suit names ShopRite and Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery, which made and brought the bread to the store and set up the display, according to the report.

As a result negligence, Fromen said she "suffered severe and permanent bodily injuries" along with "great pain" and has been permanently disabled as a result of the fall, the suit alleges.

Fromen is demanding a jury trial and unspecified damages.

Golden Krust could not be reached for comment.
