SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — A 3-month-old boy will be taken off life support soon and is expected to succumb to his injuries after he accidently fell while being held and hitting his head in the borough recently.

A family member babysitting Reece Modzelewski accidently dropped him, The Daily Voice reported.

The Saddle Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps performed infant CPR and rushed the boy to Hackensack University Medical Center Tuesday, Police Chief Robert Kugler said in the report.

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that Reece, the 3-month-old son of Nicole and Mark, will succumb to his injuries," Benjamin DiFranco wrote on a Go Fund Me donations page established to help the parents through the difficult ordeal.

DiFranco said the baby would "likely pass this week."

"There isn't anything more the doctors can do. Even if he wakes up he will have no quality of life; not being able to walk, talk or function on his own," DiFranco said. "This is the one of the hardest decision decision anyone will ever have to make. The love that Nicole and Mark have for their baby boy will be forever and he will be greatly missed."

More than $7,500 has been donated to the family.
