Fair Lawn Relay For Life Cancer Fundraiser Kicks Off Soon

Hundreds of people participate in the fundraiser to help raise thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — The annual Fair Lawn Relay for Life fundraiser will kick off this month, beginning a monthslong processing of raising thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.

Relay for Life is a national event held at thousands of high schools throughout the United States. The student-led events are typically held in May and June. Cancer survivors, their families and members of the community walk around high school tracks all day and all night to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The Fair Lawn event will begin with a community kickoff and free pasta dinner Feb. 16. Former New York Giant and Super Bowl-winning player Karl Nelson will attend the event.

Attendees will get to see how local funds raised benefit the Fair Lawn community.

“This is our community’s opportunity to help save lives from cancer by taking action to move us closer to a world free from the pain and suffering of cancer,” said Assunta Trischka, a longtime Fair Lawn resident and chairperson of this year's event. “Funds raised from our event helps the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing cancer, and fund cancer research that will help protect future generations.”
