Community Blood Services is running the event. It is one of 80 blood drives being held in 11 counties to help resupply area blood supplies, which often decrease during the summer.

Donors will receive a free cholesterol screening, and will be given access to the online “Donor Express” health questionnaire, which helps to streamline the actual blood donation process.

“We believe anyone who donates is providing an essential service to their community,” explains Robert Kessler, Community Blood Services’ recruitment director. “It’s really that important. There’s a tremendous need, and we need people to step up and help their neighbors.”

Healthy individuals age 16 or older, who weigh at least 110 pounds, may donate blood; 16-and 17-year-olds must bring signed consent forms (available at communitybloodservices.com) proof of their birthdate and bring identification with their signature.
