This Bergen Town Is The 2nd Worst Spot For Traffic Jams In The US

The list was compiled by the American Transportation Research Institute.

FORT LEE, NJ — The most busiest bridge in the world is the second-worst place for traffic congestion.

Interstate 95 at Route 4 in Fort Lee, near the George Washington Bridge toll plaza is again the second most congested bottleneck in the United States, according to the latest ranking by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI).

The average speed at the intersection is 35 mph. The average speed during peak driving times being 25 mph, or more than 8 percent slower than last year's 27 mph.

ATRI analyzed GPS data from more than 800,000 trucks to create the list.

Gail Toth, executive director of the New Jersey Motor Truck Association told NJ.com that she does not know if there is any way to fix bottlenecks at the GWB.

"You plan to wait," Toth said. "It's calculated into the costs of doing business."

Fort Lee was ranked in the second spot on the list last year. Number one on the list is Interstate 85 in Atlanta has been in the top spot for three years. The Chicago intersection of Interstate 290 at Interstates 90 and 94 stayed in the third spot for the second consecutive year.
