Man Pleads Guilty To Robbing Fort Lee Bank

Isaac Nesbit, 30, admitted he threatened to shoot everyone in the bank if a teller did not give him money, authorities said.

FORT LEE, NJ — A Bronx man admitted in federal court Monday to robbing a borough bank in January, Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick announced.

Isaac Nesbit, 30, pleaded guilty to bank robbery before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas, Fitzpatrick said.

Nesbit admitting that on Jan. 20, he robbed a Bank of New Jersey branch, Fitzpatrick said. Nesbit also admitted that he handed a teller a handwritten note demanding cash and threatening to shoot everyone in the bank if the teller did not comply, Fitzpatrick said.

Detective Brian Cullen saw a man matching Nesbit's description walking on Center Avenue near the George Washington Bridge after the robbery, police said when the incident occurred.

Officer Dillon Turner saw Cullen and Nesbit running across the highway and stopped him at the New York City-bound bus stop of the George Washington Bridge, police said.
Police found the money Nesbit reportedly stole from the bank when they took him into custody, police said.

Nesbit faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 7, Fitzpatrick said.
