New Shared-Services Agreement Saves Fort Lee Money

The agreement permits the borough to use Bergen County snow-removal, lawn and public safety equipment, like barricades.

FORT LEE, NJ — The borough will save money and get access to county-owned equipment thanks to a new shared-services agreement.

The agreement allows Fort Lee, and Leonia, to directly request use snow removal equipment, lawn and tree maintenance equipment and public safety equipment.

Previously, the Borough Council needed to pass a resolution asking to borrow the equipment and the county would need to approve the request.

The Leonia Board of Education may also request use of the equipment.

“These shared services agreements benefit not only the residents of Leonia and my hometown, Fort Lee, and for the taxpayers of Bergen County,” said Freeholder Chair Pro Tempore Joan Voss. “By allowing these towns to make expedited use our existing available equipment, we can help keep local expenses down in our municipalities by keeping them from having to purchase equipment that already exists in Bergen County, especially if they only need it infrequently, which translates into savings for taxpayers.”
