Unemployment Updates Can Now Be Made Online

NJ Department of Labor and and Workforce Development announces enhanced website

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development has enhanced its website to allow people who are collecting unemployment insurance to update their address and telephone number information via the Internet.

This self-service application, launched by the Department’s Division of Unemployment Insurance, allows people who are collecting benefits to easily notify the Department of any address and telephone number changes if they move within the state.

This service has been added to several other on-line services already available at www.njuifile.net for people collecting unemployment insurance in New Jersey. The website allows people to use the Internet to file an unemployment claim, file a continued claim and arrange direct deposit for payment of benefits.

People collecting unemployment must provide proper verification of their identity to update their address or telephone number over the Internet. Additionally, processing the updated information may take up to 24 hours. The Department recommends anyone using the new web service to make any address or telephone number updates prior to claiming any new benefits to ensure appointment notices and other benefit information are received in a timely manner.

The web service for address and telephone number changes is not available to unemployment insurance claimants living outside of New Jersey or those who are relocating outside of the state. However, claimants who live out of state or who are relocating out of state may update their information at the time they certify for benefits or by calling 888-795-6672 directly.

Additional information about address and telephone number changes is available by following the “File For Benefits” link on the Department’s Website at www.nj.gov/labor.
