David Creato Murder Trial May Begin Thursday, Continue Into May

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Jury selection in the trial of a Haddon Township father accused of killing his 3-year-old son began with 12o potential jurors Tuesday morning, the Philly Voice reports. The trial of David “DJ” Creato, accused of killing 3-year-old Brendan in October of 2015, may begin as early as Thursday and run through May, Judge John T. Kelley told prospective jurors. Jury selection is expected to continue on Wednesday.

Jurors were asked if they know anyone who may be a potential witness, according to the report. They were also asked questions that would be used to weed out anyone with potential bias. More people may be called on if too many from the original pool are excused.

David Creato was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child in the death of his son on Jan. 12, 2016, three months after his son’s body was first discovered.

The prosecution claims David Creato’s motive was a jealous girlfriend, who said Brendan Creato was getting in the way of their relationship.

According to the report, Creato's girlfriend is a potential witness in the case, as well as Brendan's mother, Samantha DeNoto, her boyfriend, family members and several officers and medical examiners involved in the investigation.
