A South Jersey man who admitted to raping two women, including one whose picture was posted on Snapchat, has been sentenced to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison, authorities announced on Monday.

Mason Mallon, 25, of Gibbsboro, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Monday. He has been sentenced to two concurrent terms of 15 years in prison.

He must serve at least 12 years, nine months in prison before becoming eligible for parole. He is also subject to the full penalties of Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life.

Mallon was initially arrested after the friend of an 18-year-old woman he was accused of raping in his home became concerned for her safety after seeing a Snapchat post from Mallon. The victim appeared to be unconscious.

The friend called Gibbsboro police and asked them to go to Mallon's home on the 100 block of West Clementon Road to check on the victim. Upon arrival, police say they found the victim in Mallon's bedroom, "disoriented, bruised and covered in blood." She was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.

Shortly after this arrest, another woman came forward and accused Mallon of physically and sexually assaulting her in his home on March 1, 2016. She said she knew Mallon before the incident. She said after he gave her a drink, she was unable to move, and he assaulted her.

“One of the victims, who is now 20, read an impact statement during the sentencing,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. “The woman told the defendant that, unlike Mallon, who she called weak, she was strong and that even though she 'crossed paths with a monster,' she would not become one. She further stated that she would ‘find the light’ in what happened to her.”
