2 Hillsborough Committeemen Sworn In As Recount Remains Undecided

James Ruh, Jr. and Robert Britting were both sworn in to serve on the Township Committee at the Tuesday night meeting.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — James Ruh, Jr. and Robert Britting were both sworn in to serve on the Township Committee at the Tuesday night meeting.

"We are swearing in two very capable candidates and look forward to all of the great work you will be doing up here on the dais. Congratulations. You guys are going to be great," said Deputy Mayor Frank DelCore at the Dec. 13 meeting.

Ruh, a 30-plus-year resident of the Township and former Board of Education member, was selected on Dec. 2 to fill the unexpired term of Janine Erickson - who resigned for "personal life obligations."

"I want to thank the Mayor and Committee for both the consideration and appointment. I look forward to serving the people of Hillsborough in an official capacity," said Ruh, Jr.

Britting was selected by the Hillsborough Township Committee in March to fill Steven Cohen's open seat after he resigned due to his ongoing battle with long-haul COVID-19.

The final results certified by Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter reported Britting had 7,473 and Murray 7,427.

"I do believe Hillsborough Township is in better hands with all of you serving up here on the dais. I think we are certainly better off having you here in town up here," said Committeeman Doug Tomson.
