Rumor Of Threat At Hillsborough Middle School Investigated By Police

Hillsborough Police investigated the potential threat and "no evidence was found to support any of the rumors," said Principal Trybulski.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Rumors of a threat at Hillsborough Middle School prompted an investigation by Township police over the weekend and on Monday.

Principal Dr. Joseph Trybulski sent a letter to parents on Monday addressing the rumors and alleged threat.

"With regard to recent rumors circulating today concerning a potential threat, I want to reassure everyone that such information was shared with the Hillsborough Township Police over the weekend and again today, the matter was fully investigated, and no evidence was found to support any of the rumors," said Trybulski.

Trybulski stressed that school security is his highest priority.

"Students are reminded to always be vigilant and share concerns with trusted teachers, counselors or any adult professional in the school. However, we want to avoid initiating or perpetuating false rumors or unsubstantiated claims on social media or through friends which is rarely helpful and can more often create its own form of disruption to the school," said Trybulski. "Sharing concerns openly with school personnel is always the best route to take and know that we will always respond thoroughly and responsibly."
