Third Shooting In 2 Weeks Reported In Somerset

Breaking: A shooting on Monday night marks the third non-fatal shooting in the past two weeks in the Somerset section of Franklin Township.

SOMERSET, NJ — A shooting on Monday night marks the third shooting in the past two weeks in the Somerset section of Franklin Township.

A 9-1-1 call at around 8:56 p.m. on May 1 reported gunshots in the area of Mark and Parkside Streets.

Responding Franklin Township officers found a 21-year-old man in the area of Millstone Road and Route 27, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his right forearm, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson reported.

The victim was treated at the scene and then was transported to a local trauma center for emergency treatment. The victim is not cooperating with law enforcement authorities, Robertson said.

Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigations and Forensics Unit are investigating the recent string of shootings in the area that have occurred within the past two weeks.

A shooting was also reported on April 19 at around 3:35 p.m. in the area of Fuller Street in the Somerset section of Franklin Township. Responding officers found a 29-year-old New Brunswick man outside a Fuller Street home, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower extremity.

A second shooting was reported on April 28 around 11:48 p.m. where an 18-year-old woman was found suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her lower extremity in the area of Baier Avenue in the Somerset section of Franklin Township, police reported.
