Hoboken Police Use Naloxone To Save Life, Drug Overdoses Continue
The Hoboken rescue was law enforcement's 66th successful deployment of naloxone in Hudson County this year, prosecutors said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police officers prevented a potentially fatal situation with their quick and adept use of naloxone last week, authorities said. Sold under the brand Narcan, among others, the drug is used to treat opioid overdoses.
Hoboken Police Department officers used naloxone to save a person’s life last Friday, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. It was law enforcement's 66th successful deployment of naloxone in Hudson County this year.
Friday’s rescue isn’t the first time that Hoboken officers have put their overdose rescue skills to the test… and come out victorious. In May, HPD officers used naloxone to save seven lives in just two weeks.

After a naloxone-related rescue in March, Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante congratulated the involved officer on social media, adding that persistence and three attempts at the use of naloxone saved a woman's life.
It's important to know that drug addiction – and the possible need for police aid – can happen anywhere in the city, Ferrante said.

When one social media user asked Ferrante to provide the location of overdoses in the city, the chief provided the following response:
"Because they are med calls, the addresses and the identities are confidential. I can assure you two things, most occur inside people's homes, and they are all over all sections of Hoboken. Drug addiction and drug overdoses do not discriminate. It's all socio-economic backgrounds."
