UPDATED Hoboken Suffers Water Main Break On Willow Avenue

Suez Water said residents should expect no loss of pressure, but one block of Willow Avenue is closed near the northern entrance to town.

HOBOKEN, NJ — In a town whose century-old water mains often break, the frequent breaks seemed to have calmed down in the last few months after they were nearly incessant for several years. But Saturday morning at 8:01 a.m., the city reported a new break, this one on Willow Avenue, a main artery in town, between 13th and 14th streets. The block is near the northern entrance to town.

[UPDATE: On Sunday, Suez Tweeted that the work will continue through Monday. Trader Joe's and other businesses in that area were open. See updates here.]

The city is asking motorists to avoid that area. Suez Water reported that residents of the uptown area of town should not expect a loss in water pressure.
