Malibu Diner Demolition Continues In Hoboken (PHOTOS)
The Malibu Diner, at Hoboken's northern entrance, has been reduced to rubble as owners plan to renovate. See before and after in story.
HOBOKEN, NJ —Hoboken's last remaining diner closed on New Year's Eve 2021, and it's been completely demolished over the last few weeks.



The owners have said the mainstay will return in two years as part of a commercial residential development.
The Babalis family took over the Malibu in 1979. But in 2019, the property owners submitted plans to someday demolish and rebuild the diner as part of a larger complex. READ MORE: Patriarch Of Popular Malibu Diner In Hoboken Passes Away

The closure left Hoboken without a diner, as the Spa Diner near the southern end of town had already shut in 2018. But Hoboken does have a bevy of other restaurant options.
