Jersey City Teen Charged With Handgun Possession After 9mm Gun Found In Hoboken
A Jersey City teen was charged with handgun possession after a gun was found in Hoboken's public housing neighborhood.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken police said they arrested and charged a 19-year-old Jersey City man on Friday after connecting him to a handgun found in Hoboken's public housing neighborhood in early September.
The arrest came six days after a Hoboken man was shot to death in a separate incident in the same area of town. No arrests have been made yet in connection with that shooting.
Arrested on Friday, Sept. 30 was Keshawn Gregory, 19, of Jersey City. He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun.

Police say that around 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 7, Officer Frank Francolino and Detective Bret Globke investigated the area of Third and Jackson streets after being "advised" of a handgun in the area of 301 Jackson St.
Francolino found a Taurus model G25 9mm that appeared to be discarded, police say.

"At this time, no one was in the immediate area and officers on scene were unable to connect a person to the weapon," police said. "Detective Bret Globke led this investigation which resulted in an arrest ... by the Hoboken Police Department Street crimes unit."
Gregory’s charges were placed on a warrant and he was transferred to Hudson County Correctional Facility after the arrest process.
Guns in Hoboken
- A little over a week ago, on Sunday, Sept. 25, Chris Garcia, 28, was shot to death during an argument at 560 Marshall Drive just before 3:30 a.m., police said. No arrests have been announced. A GoFundMe has been started.
- A week earlier, a Hoboken juvenile and a 19-year-old man from Jersey City were arrested by Hoboken police after a two-month investigation that began with a .45 caliber Glock handgun being found in a vehicle at 655 Sixth St. in July.
- In January, a Hoboken man, 19, was charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a Hoboken teen at Fourth and Adams streets, in the same area of town.
"The scourge of gun violence that is plaguing our country has hit very close to home," said Councilman Ruben Ramos last week, in response to the murder of Garcia.
In 2020, a Jersey City official said that there was "feuding" between groups in Hoboken and nearby Jersey City Heights.
