Uptown Hoboken Starbucks Gets New Opening Date, New Seating Plan
The Starbucks in the Hoboken Shipyard was originally scheduled to reopen this week, and has changed its indoor seating.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The uptown Hoboken Starbucks has been closed since late February for renovations, with a sign saying they'd reopen April 11 (this Tuesday). A representative said Monday that the store will now open next week, on April 17.
Workers were inside the store on Monday, and renovations appeared almost complete. The long table has been removed and seating appears to be set up along the windows, with the ordering counter now extending the length of the store, and no back seating area. There is a table with seating near the Hudson Street entrance.

The store also has new art on the walls.

Hoboken's other two Starbucks stores have also renovated and removed much of their indoor seating. Recently, it came to light that some food stores downtown were trying to cut down on rowdiness inside.
When asked about the new configuration, a company representative said, "As a standard course of business, we continually evaluate our store portfolio, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers. We are happy to confirm that our store in Hoboken will reopen from a standard renovation on April 17."

The Starbucks at 12th and Hudson streets gained minor fame in 2021 when comedian Artie Lange mentioned it as part of his recovery from drug addiction. Lange, who grew up in Union, now lives in Hoboken.
In October 2021, the former Howard Stern Show regular posted a photo of himself on Twitter near the store with his favorite drink, a caramel macchiato, and wearing a DRUG FREE bracelet. READ MORE: Artie Lange Steps Out 'Drug Free' At Hoboken Starbucks
In the meantime Hoboken is bursting with locally owned coffee shops in town, including, in that corner of town, Bwe, Chocopain, Cowabunga Coffee, and City of Saints.
The town also has one of the few nut-free coffee shops, Joey No Nuts, and a new shop that opened very recently on Garden Street called Hey, Coffee People.
The mile-square city also has two other Starbucks locations — at 314 Washington St., and at 51 Newark St.
