Fourth Car Stolen In Holmdel, Colts Neck Over Easter Weekend

It's now a total of four cars, mostly luxury vehicles, that were stolen​ in Colts Neck and Holmdel over the Easter holiday weekend.

COLTS NECK, NJ — It's now a total of four cars, mostly luxury vehicles, that were stolen in Holmdel and Colts Neck over the Easter holiday weekend.

The car thefts were:

Monday, April 2: A 2014 Range Rover was stolen from a driveway on Yearling Path in Colts Neck at 2:30 a.m. Monday. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys had been left inside the vehicle.

Sunday night, April 1: A resident of Twin Lakes Drive in Colts Neck reported their 2009 Mercedes CL550 was stolen from their driveway sometime overnight Sunday into Monday. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the key fob inside.

Saturday, March 31: Police were called to a home on Richards Way in Holmdel, where a black 2018 Mercedes Benz S56 was taken at 3:00 a.m. Saturday.

Thursday, March 29: A white 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from a driveway on Grandview Drive in Holmdel sometime between Thursday night and Friday.

Police did not specify if either car had been unlocked in the Holmdel thefts. Patch has reported for months now about car thefts in wealthy rural areas, such as Colts Neck, Middletown and Holmdel. Residents often leave their key fobs inside or near unlocked cars.

The number of car thefts in Monmouth County skyrocketed in 2017: According to the Monmouth County Sheriff, there were 73 reported car thefts in the first half of 2017, which rose to 157 in the second half.
