Here's what you need to know for Thursday.
- Get ready for cold and flu season. Hopatcong High School is the site of a Flu Clinic Thursday from 4-7 p.m, according to the school district website. Health professionals will be on hand to deliver vaccines for flu, pneumonia and tetanus/pertussis. This is not a walk-in event. You must call 973-579-0570 for an appointment or register online at www.sussex.nj.us/flu.
- Back to School Nights continue: Parents will meet teachers at Hopatcong High School and at Hudson Maxim School, first-grade parents get their turn in the tiny chairs.
- The Oct. 1 Hopatcong Land Use Board meeting, which will include a discussion of River Styx redevelopment plans, has been rescheduled, according to the borough website. The body will gather instead Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hopatcong Borough Municipal Building, 111 River Styx Road.
Thursday is an excellent night for Hopatcong and Sparta music fans.
- Robert Randolph & the Family Band are outright revered on the jamband circuit, traveling across the nation and serving up a piping hot gumbo of rock, blues, soul and funk that defies you not to groove. The group is touring in support of its new CD, "Lickety Split." Dance and shake your bones when the steel-pedal guitar master and company grace the stage of the Newton Theatre at 234 Spring Street in Newton. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets run from $29 to $49 and can be purchased online.
- If indie heartland roots-music is more your deal, catch the BoDeans at the Stanhope House. These Milwaukee boys fuse blues, rock, country, folk and soul into something memorable and thought-provoking—as demonstrated on the band's latest, "American Made." The Stanhope is at 45 Main St. in Stanhope. Tickets are $25 and can be procured via the interwebs.
